Stronger Hearts Start Here

February is Heart Health Month—a time to refocus, renew, and remember the one muscle thatworks harder than any other: your heart. At Lane Cardiovascular Center, in partnership with Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS), caring for your heart means more than advanced procedures. It means compassion, commitment, and a constant dedication to helping every individual live a longer, healthier life.

For nearly two decades, this partnership has brought world-class cardiovascular care close to
home for Zachary and the surrounding communities. CIS provides highly trained, nationally
recognized physicians, while Lane delivers state-of-the-art facilities, advanced technology, and
an experienced staff devoted to excellence. Together, they offer the region rapid cardiac
response, full-service diagnostics, and innovative treatment options—all under one roof.
Advanced Technology. Exceptional Care.

The Lane Cardiovascular Center features a 9,250-square-foot facility with two complete
catheterization labs and advanced imaging technology. Most cardiovascular
procedures—excluding open-heart surgery—can be performed right here, without the need to
travel to Baton Rouge.

Modern tools help physicians treat complex heart and vascular conditions with precision.
Techniques and technologies available at Lane include modern stent systems, embolic
protection devices for carotid procedures, atherectomy tools for removing plaque, the Impella
heart pump for support during interventions, intravascular imaging, pressure-wire
measurements, implantable defibrillators, and ultrasound-assisted devices designed to open
even the toughest peripheral blockages. Each of these tools plays a critical role in restoring
healthy blood flow—because open vessels mean a healthier, stronger heart.

Beyond cardiac care, Lane’s physicians also address peripheral arterial disease (PAD), a
condition especially common in the region. Left untreated, PAD can lead to pain, disability, and
even amputation. With today’s minimally invasive approaches, many patients can avoid
amputation or greatly extend the life and function of their limbs.

Comprehensive Heart & Vascular Services:
Lane offers full-spectrum cardiovascular diagnostics and treatment, including:
  • Emergency care from board-certified emergency medicine specialists
  • EKG, stress testing, vascular ultrasound, MRI, CT imaging, echocardiography
  • Holter monitoring, nuclear medicine studies, coronary calcium scoring
  • Screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm and peripheral vascular disease
  • Diagnostic cardiac and peripheral catheterizations
  • Angioplasty, atherectomy, stent placement, plaque removal
  • Pacemaker and defibrillator insertion
  • Carotid angiograms and stenting
  • Cardioversion, IVC filter placement, loop recorder placement
  • Transesophageal echocardiography and more

Your Team of Heart Specialists
Lane partners with a distinguished group of CIS cardiologists, including Dr. Robert Drennan, Dr.
Abdullah Munir, Dr. Adrian Nugent, Dr. Thomas Gullatt and Dr. Charles Thompson—experts in
cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, imaging, and advanced heart therapies. These
physicians share one goal: ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care.

A Heartfelt Commitment to You
Your heart never rests—and neither do we. At Lane Cardiovascular Center and CIS, care is more
than a service. It’s a promise: to listen, to guide, and to deliver the best possible cardiovascular
care for every patient, every day.

Stronger hearts build stronger communities. And we’re proud to care for the heart of ours.
