Baton Rouge Metro Airport (BTR) Launches Three Little Free Libraries Thanks to Community Partnerships

Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) is thrilled to announce the installation of three new Little Free Libraries inside the terminal—made possible through the generous support of the John James Audubon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Ann Fairfax Society of the Children of the American Revolution (CAR), the Bayou Buddies Pet Therapy Group, and the incredible dedication of Maribeth Andereck and her team, who worked closely with BTR to help bring these partnerships to life. Special thanks also go to Shea Dixon with The Bengal Tiger for sponsoring one of the carts.
The Little Free Libraries—located in the main terminal lobby, near baggage claim, and just past the
security checkpoint on each concourse—offer travelers and visitors of all ages the opportunity to
“take a book, leave a book,” adding a personal touch to their travel experience.
“This project is such a beautiful example of what makes BTR special,” said Kristin Jewell,
Marketing and Public Relations Manager at BTR. “We are so grateful for the community support
behind this effort—from the John James Audubon Chapter DAR to Bayou Buddies and, of course,
Maribeth. It’s an honor to work with people and organizations who genuinely believe in BTR’s
mission to expand services and offerings for the greater good of our passengers and our
community.”
“Bayou Buddies pet therapy dogs visit the airport regularly to provide comfort to passengers, crew,
and staff. We know travel can cause some anxiety or even boredom while waiting for flights, so
adding reading options for passengers of all ages just made sense. BTR is the first airport in
Louisiana to have a Little Free Library, and we’re proud to put it on the LFL map with three,” said
Maribeth Andereck, Coordinator for Bayou Buddies. Bayou Buddies is part of the Louisiana
Capital City Obedience Club in Baton Rouge.
Each mini library is filled with books for children and adults, offering everything from quick reads
to captivating novels. Travelers can grab a story before boarding or leave behind a favorite for
someone else to enjoy.
BTR remains committed to enhancing the passenger experience—not just through travel, but
through meaningful connections, comfort, and a sense of community. These Little Free Libraries
are another way the airport continues to show that it's more than just a travel hub—it’s a place that
reflects the heart and soul of Baton Rouge.
