Last summer, two of my daughters suddenly became very interested in tennis. Was this a TikTok trend? Were they just enamored with the cute outfits? I don’t know. All I know is that it was too late in the season for us to sign up for tennis camp at the YMCA. This year? We’re prepared!
The YMCA is a great place to make friends and learn a sport in a safe, supportive environment. This summer, the Y at Americana is offering both full and half-day tennis camps, led by USPTA Elite Professional Chris Anders. These camps focus on developing “Future Stars” ages 5-14. Anders, a passionate competitor, is dedicated to helping students progress from early learners to players who can compete across the region.
"I have a passion for competition," Anders says. "We have a lot of fun at the same time, but I really want to develop youth players who are able to compete across the region."
For those just starting their tennis journey, the Y also offers the Rising Stars summer camp, specifically designed to introduce new players to the game. This program ensures that even the youngest beginners have a chance to experience the sport in a fun and encouraging environment.
And don’t worry—the full-day camps won’t just be a drill-fest. Participants will enjoy pickleball and swim breaks between tennis lessons, keeping the experience engaging and dynamic.
Currently, the YMCA is offering an early bird discount on half and full-day tennis camps through the end of March. Interested in learning more? Don’t wait—these spots are expected to fill up quickly. You can sign up online or contact Chris at [email protected].
