Holiday Gift Guide and Movie Night at The Main Library at Goodwood

This holiday season, let the East Baton Rouge Parish Library be your guide to finding perfect gifts for your loved ones. Our expert librarians are ready to help you discover ideal reads for everyone on your list.
For adults, we recommend the compelling new releases: From Here to the Great Unknown, the powerful mother-daughter memoir by Lisa Marie Presley and Riley Keough (an October Oprah's Book Club selection), Haruki Murakami's imaginative fantasy The City and Its Uncertain Walls, or for something unique, Sergio de la Pava's thought-provoking detective novel Every Arc Bends Its Radian.

Young readers will enjoy the latest installments in beloved series including Hot Mess from Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Kristy and the Walking Disaster from the Baby-Sitters Club. For fans of the recent film adaptation, Peter Brown's original novel The Wild Robot makes an excellent choice.

For teens and tweens, we suggest Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross (young adult), while middle-grade readers will enjoy The Labors of Hercules Beal by Gary D. Schmidt and the engaging graphic memoir Mexikid by Pedro Martin.

And don't forget to join us for Movies on the Plaza at the Main Library at Goodwood on Friday, December 13 at 7 p.m. when we will watch a 2004 holiday classic on the plaza’s big screen about a mysterious train bound for the North Pole on Christmas Eve. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, enjoy a treat from S.A.B.'s Snowball Shoppe, and stay for the after-movie dance party!
