Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport Gears Up for Busy Thanksgiving Travel Week

Nov 26, 2024 09:44AM ● By Press Release

Baton Rouge, LA — As the Thanksgiving travel season approaches, Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) is preparing for one of the busiest periods in recent years. With over 18.3 million passengers expected to travel nationwide from November 26 to December 2, BTR is set to serve more than 10,000 departing passengers, a 16% increase over last year and a return to pre-pandemic levels.

“We know holiday travel can be stressful, so our focus is on providing a smooth and enjoyable experience for all our passengers,” said Kristin Jewell, Marketing Manager at BTR. “BTR’s convenience, shorter lines, easy parking, and friendly atmosphere make it the perfect alternative to the hustle and bustle of larger airports.”

BTR offers several benefits for travelers this holiday season, including TSA PreCheck lanes with average wait times of under 10 minutes, standard security lines averaging less than 30 minutes, and parking just steps from the terminal. This convenience ensures a seamless travel experience from check-in to boarding.

To help make your travel even easier, TSA has shared a few key tips: start with an empty bag to avoid packing prohibited items, follow the 3-1-1 rule for liquids (3.4 ounces or less in a quart-sized bag, 1 bag per person), and pack solid foods like pies and cookies in your carry-on. For more information, visit TSA’s “What Can I Bring?” page or contact @AskTSA on social media.

The busiest travel days at BTR are expected to be Tuesday, November 26; Wednesday, November 27; and Sunday, December 1. To ensure a smooth departure, passengers are advised to arrive at least 90 minutes before their scheduled flight to allow time for parking, check-in, and security.

BTR extends heartfelt thanks to TSA officers, airline partners, and airport staff for their continued commitment to delivering a safe, efficient, and pleasant travel experience. This Thanksgiving, we’re thankful for the continued community support and wish you all a wonderful holiday.
