Boudreaux and Thibodeaux raised a flag over the Train Depot

Hey, did you hear the one about the Boudreaux and Thibodeaux families from Zachary who raised a flag over the Train Depot? Well, it's not exactly a joke, but it happened.

If you've been wondering what flag is flying over the Zachary Depot, wonder no more! The Louisiana Acadiana Cajun Flag is now proudly waving as one of our locals head off to the International Celebration of Acadian Culture and family reunions in Nova Scotia from August 10th to 18th.

The Boudreaux family, represented by Beetle Boudreaux Fisher, and the Thibodeaux family, represented by Kathy Mier, showed up for a flag-raising ceremony. They paid their respects to the ancestors and got that Cajun flag flying high.

Kathy Mier, who used to be president of the Zachary Area French Club while she was teaching at Zachary High isn't just going for the food and fun. She's actually going to be speaking at this shindig up in Nova Scotia.

This whole celebration is like a family reunion on steroids for folks with Acadian roots. It's a chance to meet some long-lost cousins, chow down on some good eats, and maybe learn a thing or two about where they came from.

I'm sure when Kathy gets back, she'll have plenty of stories to tell. Who knows? Maybe she'll even come back with some new Cajun jokes to share. Either way, it's pretty cool to see Zachary representing down in Nova Scotia.

So next time you're cruising by the Zachary Depot, take a look up at that Acadiana flag. It's not just there for show—it's a little piece of Acadiana flying high while our folks are up north getting in touch with their Cajun heritage.
