Best & Co. Boutique Coming to Zachary's Iconic Pink Building

Without question one of the most iconic buildings in Zachary is the Pink Building on Main Street. It screams "you'll find something special inside." In a few months, it will become the new home of Best & Co. Boutique, a ladies clothing store by Jessica Best.
The Best family are long time Zachary residents with deep ties to the community. Dr. Joshua Best is an OBGYN at Lane and Jessica is on the Community Bible Study leader's council and is a children's teacher in the CBS Children's Ministry hosted once a week at Plains Presbyterian Church.
Jessica graduated from LSU with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, but her life took her in a different path before she was able to work in the industry. "We got married and immediately left for Shreveport for Joshua's medical career." The couple moved to Zachary around the time they had their first child, knowing that it would be the perfect place to work and to raise a family.

Soon, Jessica was deeply involved with ZEPTO and with everything that comes with raising young children. She'd think about opening up her own boutique as a "some day" dream, and then get back to whatever nitty gritty thing needed to be done for the day. Slowly though, as her children grew older, they started to push her to follow her dreams.
"My girls actually made a power point presentation to try to convince me to open my own shop!" she laughs. Although it was quite persuasive, she still didn't think it was the right time. Then, on May 19th she was driving by the Pink Building and saw that it was available. She heard God ask "Why not you?" so she made the call just to see if it was even a possibility.

"I want to bring something to Zachary that we don't already have. We have some great boutiques here, and as I build up my inventory, I'm being mindful of not just replicating what someone else is already doing. " She's also being mindful of how much of any given item that she'll carry. "We're a small town. I don't want to have everyone wearing the exact same shirt! If something sells out really quickly, I might bring in a different color, but I want it to feel like you've found something unique here."
She's also thinking of ways that purchases at her boutique can help give back to the community. One idea that she's working on is to let the shoppers vote on a charity, or even a local family, to support each quarter with a percentage of the proceeds from the shop. "I want people to feel good about shopping small in their community."
Right now though, Jess is working on building brand relationships and getting out to markets in Dallas and Atlanta. She has a very clear vision for the kinds of things that she wants to carry: Classics, but with some color. A limited stock of shoes and accessories. Some fun game day items.
"It's going to have a distinct feel," she says, "I'm looking for things that you can't get just anywhere. I want people to feel good when they come in, and even better when they leave."
Best and Co. is projected to open in early Fall. Keep an eye on this page for the grand opening announcement!
