Ila Belona was just being a mom, doing mom things in 2017 when God spoke to her and told her that she needed to write her stories. “We were up to our eyes in spit up and dirty diapers and action figures, having three children under five years old. Needless to say, I had some funny stories to share,” she explains.

She got to work right away and immediately wrote two children’s books, but then life got in the way and it took almost four more years for her to “choose obedience,” she says and go through the process of self publishing. Thankfully, God led her to some wonderful people who were able to share their wisdom, knowledge, and encouragement which helped her to get the two books completed.

Because of that obedience, opportunities to share her work started coming. Last year, she had her books featured during the annual African American Read In. This March, she is doing an author’s story time at the West Baton Rouge Public Library.

If you are interested in purchasing Ila's books for your family you can find both on amazon The stories will resonate with anyone who has ever grown up with siblings or who needs a little encouragement in feeling valued for being their own special selves.
