Zachary Fire Chief Danny Kimble and Zachary firefighters performed a live demonstration of the recently acquired LUCAS CPR Devices this morning. These devices were purchased for a total of $83,000 using City of Zachary funding, and the Zachary Fire Department is the ONLY Fire Department in the surrounding area that currently has these life-saving devices installed on their trucks.
These devices provide mechanical chest compressions to patients in cardiac arrest. Ninety-nine percent (99%) of the survivors treated with LUCAS Devices have a good neurological outcome at 6 months follow up.
“Currently, the Zachary Fire Department responds to every 911 call. Having this equipment on our trucks will deliver better care for our patients and free up firemen to deliver other services in our community,” says Gordon Lipscomb, training officer.
