Gifted/Talented Program
The ZCSD Gifted/Talented Program provides a rigorous curriculum for students identified as academically gifted or talented in the area(s) of art, music, or theater. If eligible, a student will have an IEP developed for the provision of services. A parent, student, or school district personnel may initiate a request for an initial evaluation to determine if your child is a Gifted/Talented student.
Hospital/Homebound Accommodations
Hospital/Homebound placement is a temporary option for students who are unable to attend classes due to illness or injury, resulting in the student’s absence from school for at least 10 days. Requests for homebound services begin at the school level through the School Building Level Committee (SBLC) or an IEP meeting. If your student requires these accommodations, talk with their school counselor or teacher to set up a meeting.
Limited English Proficient
The ZCSD provides services to students who are English language learners through a content-based program, integrating English as a second language instruction, with clarification in the student’s primary language when possible. When students enroll in school, information is obtained from the parents, screenings are conducted and a meeting is held with the parents involved to determine eligibility for the LEP program.
Disability Services | IDEA
SERVICES
To receive these services, a student must first be evaluated by an Assessment Team to determine their eligibility. An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is developed for eligible students by their IEP Team. The IEP defines the special education and related services a student will receive, as well as the goals that he/she will work towards, and the environment(s) in which the services will be delivered. To learn more about whether your child is eligible, talk wit their teacher or counselor.
SECTION 504 SERVICES
Services are provided to students with disabilities that meet eligibility criteria, having a physical or mental impairment that “substantially” limits one or more major life activities (not temporarily) as determined by a 504 evaluation conducted at the school level. A student may be referred to the school counselor by a parent, student, or other school staff. If eligible an Individualized Accommodation Plan (IAP) will be completed which will address the services needed.
