School Resource Officers
A School Resource Officer (SRO) is a sworn officer assigned to a school on a long-term basis and trained to perform as a law enforcement officer, law-related counselor and law-related educator. SROs collaborate with their assigned school and the community as a resource for safety and security issues.
Security Measures
The Zachary Community School District provides a first level of security at each school site, including fencing, gates, locks, cameras and security monitors. Each school has multiple security cameras with the ability to monitor cameras in real-time. Elementary schools are being upgraded with electronic door locks in the lobby that prevent access to main building/classrooms.
The Raptor Visitor System implemented across the ZCSD requires visitors to scan their driver’s license at the school’s front desk. The software scans for any criminal background, and manages visitors.
Safe Schools Louisiana App
The Safe Schools Louisiana App provides anonymous online tip reporting to middle and high school students and their parents. If you see something, say something! Use the anonymous form to report threats, harmful behaviors or dangerous situations.
First View App by First Student
FirstView is a free app that allows parents or caregivers to track their student’s bus location and distance. Real-time GPS data gives an estimated time of arrival to your stop provided on the FirstView map.
For privacy reasons, the app only allows families to see busing information for their student. Families will need their student’s ID number
in order to be linked to the correct account. This information can be found on the Parent Command Center.
