Ribbon cut on BREC/Americana hiking trail

Around 50 neighbors beat the rain Saturday morning at the ribbon cutting for the new BREC/Americana trail. BREC had four educational tents set up, along with a make your own trail mix stand and a VERY impressive swag station. We met a baby gator and took home an adorable camp mug and some great Louisiana field guides.

The completed trail now includes over 3 miles of hiking that’s great for the whole family. The BREC-side entrance to the trail is just past the big pond at Zachary Community Park and connects to Americana.

If you missed this event, don’t fret! Join BREC for a guided hike on Tuesday, April 25 as part of their Urban Nature Hike series.

BREC Superintendent Corey Wilson, Mayor David McDavid, Americana, Charles Landry and City of Zachary Council Members, Ambre DeVirgilio, Jennifer Boyd and James Graves along with children and families were on hand to officially cut the ribbon.
