District 5 Councilman Lael Montgomery requested an official recount of votes, as he lost the runoff election by a mere seven votes. Montgomery’s team paid $2300 to the Board of Elections Supervisors to conduct an official recount, which was held today in downtown Baton Rouge at 2:30 p.m. Both candidates were present for the count. Results were finalized just before 4 p.m., and the counts were an exact match from the official runoff held Dec. 10–578 for Jennifer Boyd, and 571 for Councilman Lael Montgomery, according to East Baton Rouge Parish Registrar of Voters Steve Raborn.
Thank you to all public service men and women who ran for office in this election!
