After her homeschooled daughters graduated, Kellye Jeansonne, “The Wild Child Garden Lady,” didn’t quite know what to do with herself. She looked around her gorgeous garden and thought other people might want to learn how to grow their own.
She put out a call on Facebook “Does anyone want to learn how to grow a garden?” Eight people said yes. And now, she has gardening communities in eight states with over 200 gardeners in her Wild Child Garden Club.

Kellye was born and raised in Central, but her parents are from Zachary. She and her family moved to an area just outside of town 13 years ago. Their property is full of southern charm and she is brimming with hospitality. Her gardening program starts with the basics.
“Soil building is the base of your kitchen garden symphony,” she says. “It sets you up for an amazing season and makes sure that you have all those pieces and parts put together so you can see the harvest. The Wild Child Kitchen Garden grows itself…once you do the work.”
With our long growing season in Louisiana, there’s still plenty of time to make your garden great. If your spring harvest was a bit disappointing, Kellye can help you with her Summer Do-Over sessions or even give you some ideas as we head towards Fall. All the information on her classes and coaching can be found at releaseyourinnerwildchild.com.
