Sports fans, rejoice! The fastest game on two feet is coming to Zachary. Courtesy of Coach Paul Rockwell, a seasoned lacrosse player and coach, Zachary Warhorse Lacrosse is galloping out of the gate with its upcoming training clinics.
Coach Rockwell’s clinics welcome children aged 6 to 18, with a special focus on beginners. His vision extends beyond training individuals though. He aspires to cultivate teams that will compete against local and regional rivals. With a practice season in fall and the main season unfolding between February and April, players are sure to have an exciting year ahead.
To make this dream a reality, Zachary Warhorse Lacrosse is reaching out to the community for support. This summer they collaborated with the YMCA to teach basic lacrosse skills during summer camp. They plan to work with the Y in the future during their upcoming after school camps. They’re also engaging with former local players and working with parents to build a strong coaching staff, and are in talks with organizations for sponsorship and to secure field spaces for practices and games.
The first of these lacrosse clinics will kick-off on August 10, with sessions planned at Flanacher Rd, Park in Zachary and West Feliciana Park in St Francisville. Interested families or sponsors can register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with their children’s details and preferred sessions.
Keep an eye on the Zachary Warhorse Lacrosse website’s Schedule/Events page for the latest updates. Grab your cleats, and water, everyone! It’s time to learn how to dodge, pick, and draw.
