
Copper Mill Elementary teacher Regena Landry was selected as a Louisiana state-level finalist by the State Selection Committee for this year’s Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) Program, announced the Zachary Community School District. Landry is one of only two teachers of science selected to represent Louisiana. Landry teaches 5th-grade science and 6th-grade robotics.
Because of this honor, Ms. Landry is automatically a candidate for the Presidential Award in science. The teacher selected as the state Presidential Awardee will be notified officially by the White House. Each Presidential Awardee will receive $10,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C., where the honorees will be honored in a variety of recognition events. The state-level finalists in mathematics and science will also be honored at t a luncheon in Baton Rouge.
