On March 19, the Baker-Zachary Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated held their Cotillion/Beautillion ball at the Baker Municipal Auditorium. Debutantes were presented by their fathers and the beaus were introduced by their mothers. The King and Queen for this Cotillion/Beautillion season were Caleb London and Sydney Marshall.

The 2022-2023 Cotillion/Beautillion season started with a “Presentation Tea and Toast” held at the YMCA Americana, Zachary, Louisiana. This season’s theme was “Elegant and Debonair: Reflections of Royalty.” This year there were eight participants total, including five debutantes: Kelis Dyer, Nylah Guidry, Nikiya Johnson, Zoey Leonard, and Sydney Marshall; and three beaus: A’ljyne Brown-Taylor, Caleb London, and Thomas Morris. Each participant was sponsored by a member of the Baker-Zachary Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated.
The Cotillion/Beautillion is hosted annually as a fundraiser to benefit the chapter’s programs and scholarship initiative. This fundraiser allows them to provide scholarships to students who are enrolled in schools located in their service area, Baker, Zachary, and East and West Feliciana Parish.
During the course of the season, the participants attended informative educational sessions, attended each other’s personal teas and toasts, and participated in community activities. The coterie packed 80 boxes for distribution at the West Feliciana Parish Food Pantry as their community service project. Throughout their journey, the participants were excited about all of the activities and new things they were learning.
