Brandy Westmoreland Announces Candidacy for District 1 City Council Seat

For the past 7 years, it has been one of my greatest honors to serve my hometown as a member of the Zachary Community School Board. I believe deeply in the principle of service above self, and so today, with much prayer and support from my family and friends, I am announcing my candidacy for Zachary City Council District 1. As a lifelong member of this community, I have witnessed the very best, and the worst of times in our town. I was here when flood waters ravaged our community. I have experienced the heartbreak and loss of losing our dear friends and family, as well as the division that has plagued much of our country during the worst pandemic in the history of our nation. However, I have also witnessed the greatness of Zachary. I have seen complete strangers open their homes and give the shirts off their backs to those in need. I have shed tears with our entire community and experienced the truly unique comfort of an entire community coming together to honor the families of those taken from us far too soon. I have witnessed people of all faiths, and all backgrounds come together as ONE, to serve each other without hesitation, and with an unshakeable faith that God has given us and will continue to bless us with if we continue to love and serve one another. For these reasons, I humbly ask for your support and the opportunity to serve you as your representative on Zachary City Council.
You will not find a harder worker; I am dedicated to this community.
My 27 years of banking experience offers expertise in making responsible financial decisions for our community.
I’m a Zachary High School Graduate.
The 2013 Volunteer of the year for the City of Zachary.
A Graduate of Leadership North Class of 2017.
The 2018 Women in Business Award for Zachary.
The 2019 Rotary President for Zachary.
Recently graduating from the Graduate School of Banking at LSU Class of 2021 and a Class Officer.
While my experience may make me qualified for this position, it does not entitle me to it. However, it does make it my responsibility, as well as many others like me to serve this great city, and honor those who came before us by believing and striving to achieve the greatness that has been and will be again in Zachary. With your support, I will work tirelessly to see this greatness achieved.
