Trish Dry | Northwestern Middle School

7th grade Intro to Drama and 8th grade Advanced Drama Straight Play
& Advanced Drama Musical Theater
How long have you taught?
10 years. After 15 years in advertising & marketing.
Where did you grow up?
Bastrop, LA. My style was often questioned but I was voted best dressed my senior year!
What’s a motto you live by?
Be the light! With God our light can shine in the darkness and bring joy to others. I start each class with “Tell me something good,” and my silly way of singing to get my students to relax, smile, and let go of troubles they may be carrying.
Why do you love being a teacher?
I love having the chance to pour into young people every day and expose them to performance art. My class may be the only time they see a play or have the opportunity to perform in one. I love teaching them ways to express themselves and communicate. I also enjoy showing them that we aren’t all so different.
Give us a style tip!
Don’t be afraid to mix it up! Mix patterns, add accessories. If it makes you smile, wear it!
What’s your go-to fashion piece?
A blazer. You can add it to a tee shirt on casual Fridays to really elevate your look.
Describe your style in 5 words or less.
Colorful, bold, and confident.
Who do you want to shoutout?
My best friend and husband John Dry, who encouraged me to go back to LSU at 42 to complete my degree.
My three girls, Shelbi, Emma & Grace, are my source of strength and joy! I’m blessed with a wonderful son-in-love Shelbi’s husband Matt Wambles & their sons Elliot & Emmett. I love being their “Lolli.” I’m blessed to still have my parents Pat and Annette Hipp. My mom Nana is the original fashion queen. She is always sharp with matching shoes, bags & accessories like Jackie O!
